For round two of the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring, Josh and Tommy welcomed a third driver to the 969 car; Josh's fellow Talent Pool driver, Jan-Niklas Stieler, who had previously driven the 949 Sorg Rennsport entry.

In one of the most chaotic Friday tests since Josh started racing at the Nürburgring, there were no fewer than four red flags, the last of which put an end to testing before Josh could even get in the car.

Further incidents during qualifying left the track scattered with Code 60 slow zones, and the starting grid began to feel like a lottery. Ultimately, the 969 car would end the session in 12th place, leaving a lot of work to do in the race.

Jan-Niklas took the start and got a fantastic run on the cars ahead as the lights went green, but found himself boxed in and unable to take advantage. A fierce mid-field battle commenced, costing the team time to the leaders in the opening laps. Jan-Niklas faught his way through and gradually started to close the gap before pitting.

In the middle stint, Josh reeled in the AM class leader and made short work of overtaking as he slipstreamed his way past on the run up to Schwedenkreuz before starting to stretch out a lead. Tommy then drove a flawless final stint to extend the gap to over 40 seconds, securing the AM class victory for the second consecutive race and finishing 7th overall to mark a strong recovery from a difficult qualifying.

"With so many Code 60's in the race, I'm glad we were able to stay out of trouble and work our way forward. The Cup 3 field is super competitive so it was always going to be a challenge to recover from 12th on the grid, but we did a great job as a team and secured another good haul of points for the championship." - Josh Hislop
